I don't have class on Monday so I was able to catch up on some emails, photos, and the blog. Here is a series of photos from the past week. Some are self-explanatory, some i don't even know what is going on and others are somewhere in between.
The Arno river runs through Florence and honestly it's pretty dirty looking, but the photo above was taken on one of those beautiful evenings that are about as frequent in Florence as crazy drivers. Kind of reminds me of a painting.
Another photo of the arno and buildings.
Florentine sunset... skewed a little.
Florence.
^UNDERWEARS^
artsy fartsy photo of barbed wire.
these three bw photos i'm using for class. we had to take an assignment bus route to the end of the route and see where it took us. so those are my three favorites from that trip.
pretty much what I figured Tuscany would look like^
Leaning tower of pisa... slightly exaggerated perspective and yet the tower doesn't look quite so leaning in this pic.
in front of the leaning tower of pisa... just an interesting shot i thought.
some italians are worried about their security... hum.
there's just something about being in Italy and jamming to the accordian. so I tipped the guy and took a shot. : )
another crazy skewed shot... the scooter people are crazy here.
my next ride.
So all that talk about meeting Italian girls and I ended up meeting this girl, Aura, who goes to Penn State, loves Oreos, and out of all things used to go to Woodward with a boyfriend that rode. She's my new photo buddy.
There were tons of asians at Pisa and I enjoyed there expressions while looking at the tower.
class. all art history classes are on location... the teacher talks non-stop. no joke.
cathedral... this is the big doomed place you see in the other photos of the city from afar.
another place... don't know exactly where.
So I arrived in Florence last Thursday evening. Here are a few pics from my adventures so far. Above was a street performer... in the middle of the street last Friday night. It was something else because he actually shut down the street. When cars would start to go down the street he would hold up a small stop sign and motion for them to go the other way.
Saturday I went on a field trip for the art history class that I'm taking. We went up to a small village (north i think of Florence) called Fiesole. At the village were roman/etruscan ruins, a great view and good restaurants. From Fiesole we walked... i rolled down the hill to a village below. It was crazy because the roads were narrow and steep... and italian drivers don't slow down for anybody.
This couple was awesome... I was stoked about the view then they walked into the frame to complete the scene.
From the top of Fiesole, Florence below and the church that we went to next at the bottom left.
I just thought this was a cool scene. Great colors and check out that road. Motorcycles were blasting down this road... definitely a fun road to ride.
Yesterday (sunday) I went to a large palace and it's gardens. The place was huge and the galleries inside were endless... and in every one of them tons of paintings and frescos.
